​Petition to enact an Open Primary election system in the State of Maryland

 

The Maryland Constitution specifies that every qualified Maryland citizen is entitled to vote "in the ward or election district in which he resides at all elections to be held in this State." (Article I, Section 1).

We the undersigned believe that this includes primary elections and therefore, that the State of Maryland should allow all registered voters to vote in all elections, including primary elections, for any candidate for public office in the ward or election district in which they reside, regardless of the voter's party affiliation or lack thereof.
